KnowBe4's Record Q3 2017 Performance Fueled by Innovation and Increased Demand

Demand for its new-school security awareness training and phishing platform drives 18th straight quarter of growth and 263% year-over-year sales increase.

KnowBe4, provider of the world’s most popular platform for security awareness training and simulated phishing attacks, continues its mission to help organizations enable their employees to make better security decisions. The company today announced record results for its Q3 2017, increasing sales 263 percent over Q3, 2016.

Q3 2017 marks the 18th straight quarter of growth, driven by an increasing enterprise demand for its new-school approach to security awareness training. This exceptional growth and company expansion has been supported by its continued innovation and development of effective ways to turn employees into a “‘human firewall” that can recognize and avoid cyber threats, thereby reducing risk.Q3 2017 graph.png

“The tremendous growth we’ve seen this quarter is due in part to our exceptional focus on our customers and providing them with a best-in-class platform,” said KnowBe4 CEO Stu Sjouwerman. “The relentless push by cyber criminals and the potential harm from ransomware, phishing attacks, CEO fraud, and other forms of social engineering can be substantial, costing billions of dollars. CISOs and IT managers recognize the effectiveness of the KnowBe4 platform to help them reduce human error and reduce their social engineering attack surface.”

“We know keeping an organization secure can be a daunting task at times, so our focus is to make the human firewall portion of an organization’s layered security as painless as possible,” said Greg Kras, Chief Success Officer at KnowBe4. “In addition to regulatory requirements and risk prevention, organizations need guidance on security training best practices and help determining what works best for their own organization. We’ve created tools to easily determine the weakest links and by providing engaging security awareness training and deploying simulated phishing attacks to their employee base, our subscribers are making sure their last line of defense, their employees, is as strong as possible.”

KnowBe4’s recent notable development, milestones and awards include:

    • The new Smart Groups, a feature which allows the administrator to create “set-it-and-forget-it” phishing and training campaigns to instantly respond to any phishing clicks with remedial training or have new employees automatically notified of onboarding training. Smart Groups allows the administrator to send the right phishing emails or training to the right employee at the right time.
    • Release of Email Exposure Check Pro (EEC Pro). EEC Pro identifies the at-risk users of an organization by crawling business social media information and scouring hundreds of breach databases. In addition, EEC Pro shows what organizational structure an attacker would be able to easily pull together and use to craft targeted attacks. These users are particularly at-risk because an attacker knows more about a user, possibly including their actual passwords.
    • Securing the spot as #231 on the 2017 Inc. 500, achieving its second consecutive Inc. 500 status.
    • Being named the Best Overall Place to Work in Tampa Bay by the Tampa Bay Times, in addition to winning the company size category top spot for the second year in a row.
    • Securing the spot as #3 on the list of the 50 Fast Growing Companies in Tampa Bay by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
    • The promotion of Greg Kras from Vice President of Product to Chief Success Officer, overseeing product development and support.
    • Appointing Donna Turgeon as Global Channel Manager, demonstrating KnowBe4’s focus on further building and supporting its channel.
