It's "Scam Of The Week" time! We are warning everyone against phishing attacks that try to trick you into winning movie tickets for the new Star Wars movie. For the next 2 months this is going to be a highly successful social engineering attack that a lot of people are going to fall for. This is how they might look. Think before you click!

Scam Of The Week: Apple ID Suspension Phish With A Twist

You need to watch out for a phishing scam that seems to come from Apple. The email is supposedly from Apple Support and they threaten that your account is going to be suspended because you did not reply to an earlier verification email. The phishing email has a link that allows you to "verify now" but if you click the link, you land on a bogus webpage that looks like it's Apple but is a fake, and it tries to manipulate you into giving out your password, credit card and other personal information.

Don't fall for this scam. Always go direct to the website of your vendor and do not click on links in emails that look like they are legit. Think Before You Click!

More and more, legit-looking advertising served on major websites turns out to be malicious. Bad guys pay for and posts ads that they hope you will click on. But if you click on those ads, you get redirected to a compromised website. There is a new tech support scam doing the rounds. This time it is cyber criminals with foreign accents calling you, claiming they are from Dell and they even have the correct service tag of your Dell PC. They will try to manipulate you into giving them access to your computer so that they can "fix the problem" and charge your credit card or worse, infect your computer with ransomware.

If you get called by unknown people claiming to be tech support (any company) and need to get access to your computer, hang up the phone immediately and delete any email they might send you with similar claims.

Bad guys are getting smarter by the month. They now send you emails that your antivirus and spam filters do not catch. It goes like this: The email has an attachment that you are tricked into opening. In the attachment is a link that they try to make you click on. Do not open attachments you did not ask for. When you get an attachment, verify if that person sent it to you and why. If in doubt, throw it out.  Always Think Before You Click.
